He spent ten years with a major oil company as port captain in the U.S Gulf and as Marine Superintendent. As port captain, he oversaw the operations of more than a dozen crude carriers and three product tankers. As superintendent, he was responsible for the operations of five vessels in the company’s fleet and oversaw more than a dozen shipyard periods in five years. During his time with the oil company, Captain Flanagan was selected to a number of local, national, and industry maritime committees.
Captain Flanagan is president and founder of Triton Marine, growing the consulting company since 1995. He is a graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy with fifteen years of sailing experience on all types of tankers and bulk carriers, including seven years as a Chief Officer and five years as a Master.
